Captain Wohlt's Home


Built in 1886 and located in the heart of the historic district, The Captain’s Home sits high atop Third Street and offers plenty of outdoor seating, a pergola, fire pits, and colorful flowers which are a haven for birds, butterflies and those that love them.

Adult guests may enjoy their choice of five rooms which are comfortable, clean and charming. Each room has a private bath. The dining area is available to guests for cards, games or a leisurely cup of coffee or tea. Our two-course delicious breakfast is served in this dining room each morning

The Sweetheart Room

This gracious room, decorated in burgundy and blues, has a queen-size sleigh bed. There are sturdy armchairs where you can sit and admire Madame Alexander dolls portraying famous lovers of the past. Located on the 1st floor of the Captian’s Home, the room and bathroom are Wheelchair accessible.

The Teacher's Room >> Make Reservation

Although a perfect old-maid schoolteacher looks down on you from a portrait in this second-floor room, don’t feel you have to sit still at the antique writing table! A comfortable chair faces the brass queen-size bed. The room is decorated with school-related items, as Kent was a teacher in her other life.

Named in memory of the late Mat Wilkins’s mother, who always encouraged us to realize his dream of a bed and breakfast, this large and beautiful room features a queen-size, cherry four-poster bed with matching dresser.  This light and airy second-floor room also features a velour settee and chair, as well as mementos of this sweet lady’s life.
